Random NYC Colors and polishing under the influence

Some NYC polishes I picked up awhile back...
Flat Iron Green:

Coral Reef:

MoMA:

And... the worst Halloween mani in the history of EVER. Major, major nail fail using NYC Spring Street and whatever ugly ass Halloween-y looking stuff I threw on my nails! (This was removed really really quickly.) I was polishing under the influence and this is what happened. See, kids, don't drink and paint!

Bacon Mani

So, some of you may know that I love bacon.
I've made chocolate-covered bacon.

I've made bacon fudge and bacon chocolate chip cookies, too, but I don't think I got any pictures of those.

For Halloween 2007, I made my own bacon costume out of foam, velcro, and paint. Uhh, pardon my messy room here.

Here I am dressed as bacon with my friend Marcy.

SO, naturally, when a friend suggested I try a bacon mani, I had to do it. It's not great, and this was actually my second attempt, but it's decent. :)
I used OPI Oh to be 25 Again, Zoya Dea, NYC Polyester Pink Creme, NYC Mulberry Street, and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On. Enjoy!

No buy FAIL

Yeeeeah, I fell HARD off that no-buy wagon. Well, sorta hard. I fell anyway. At least what I bought was cheap! Super cheap! Dollar Tree cheap!

I spent a great deal of time today swatching, but I'll not post it all today.

What I will post are the goodies I picked up at Dollar Tree. Enjoy!

Maybelline - Touch of Taupe. This is a light taupe. I don't believe I have a taupe this light (well, I do now). It applied nicely in two coats.

Then I picked up two Sally Hansen Salons. The first one is "Stormy Blue," which is a slate blue that is nearly gunmetal gray. It's just okay. The formula was alright. This is two coats.

Then we have Arabian Night. I showed you this on my jacked up feet, but here it is on my hand. For the life of me, I could not pick up this color or the shimmer accurately. I'd describe this as a blurple (not quite blue, not quite purple) with gold shimmer in it. This really is a super awesome color. You may want to click on it to see the larger version.

Then we have Maybelline Salon Expert in Riveting Ruby. It's a red jelly with what looked like gold shimmer in the bottle. The gold does not show up on the nail, though. It's still pretty. I'll probably wear this on my toes soon.

Last is NYC Metallic Nail Glossies in Molten Metal. This is a really pretty foil-y pewter color. I really like this a lot! It's almost as shiny and blingy as the Orly FoilFX colors, but not quite. Still, this was part of a Dollar Tree 2-pack, and is well worth the 50 cents I paid for it.

Nails of the Now

I was feeling inspired by the slew of Valentine's Day manis I've seen lately, so I decided to come home and do my own thing.

I used NYC Polyester Pink Creme as the base and used Konad special polish in black and Love My Nails in red for the stamping.

I used lace from plate M57 and hearts from plate M3.

I also added some white dots using my Art Deco nail art polish.

It's not perfect, but I like how it turned out. :)

Tonight's Nails

Yeesh! Tonight has been a nail catastrophe! First, I had to remove all that Mad as a Hatter I put on last night and it was a PAIN. I have the pure acetone tub with bristles from Target that works pretty well, except that it leaves tiny flecks of glitter all over my hands. So I got rid of all that.

Then I decided to repaint my toenails since it'd been, oh, three weeks or so since the last time I gave my toes any attention. They're ugly, they don't count. I put China Glaze DV8 on 'em and they are still ugly, but at least the color is nice. :)

Then I decided to do a non-animal print Konad. My first attempt gave me four decent nails and six duds. So I redid those six. Some of them are still a little crooked, but I'm leaving it!

This is NYC In a New York Color Minute (geesh that's a long name) in Mulberry Street with Konad Special Polish in black on top. I like this... or I would, if it weren't crooked. And I don't usually do nudes, but this reminds me of a bra -- nude with black lace. I'm also a little disturbed that I wanted my nails to look like a bra. :) This is also pre-cleanup (you can still see a little stamp overlap on my pinky) and I'm not sure when, exactly, I smudged my middle finger.

Mannequin Hands

So I read about this "mannequin hands" trend here on All Lacquered Up.

I don't usually do nudes, but my curiosity was piqued. At least piqued enough to try it with a couple of cheap polishes.

I don't think I've really got it. I'm not sure I really want to put a lot of money and effort into TRYING to get it... :)

This was my first attempt -- it was Sally Hansen Beyond Perfect in Bare Beauty. I topped it with China Glaze Matte Magic topcoat.

This was my second attempt. I used NYC in Mulberry Street. Very meh. Too shimmery, in my opinion. I didn't bother with a matte topcoat. :)

Don't think I'll try this again, but it was fun to try once.
